It was a bit nippy outside today when I went out for a walk. I'm always ultra careful when I'm walking outdoors because we have vicious copperheads on the property - so it pays to be careful. I had grabbed the H2, the tripod and the close-up lens with the intention of taking a few close-up photos of the corn that we had placed out for the resident squirrels.

Suddenly, the sky became overcast and the sun was struggling to shine - and the moment was a bit magical. So, I removed my close-up lens and was looking for a spot to safely put it away. Generally I wear pants with tons of kangaroo pockets on them but today I was pocketless. And I feared that the magical moment was going to pass, so I lazily slipped the lens in the front of my pants and began shooting this photo.

But as I walked away with my tripod and camera I immediately felt something attacking my legs - first in the thigh area - then the front of the calves. I was hopping all over the place, forgetting all about my sweet little H2 and tripod - because I just knew that a vicious and deadly copperhead had attacked me, even though the day was nippy. When I paused to recover, I discovered my close-up lens resting beneath my pants at the bottom of my legs.....
