Capital Holiday
by Helen Betts

Washington, D.C.

Taken at Union Station. This wasn't the picture I went there to take, but I liked these pillars at the front of the building with their Christmas decorations.

Familiar indeed.....maybe we'll bump into each other sometime while we're chasing these shots!

Excellent capture of those patterns.

I really like the regularity in these decorated columns and the fact they they step up keeps them from getting uninteresting.

I love the composition of this - very attractive patterns, colors and lighting!

Splendid shot, Helen! Love the repeating patterns and the stepping as well. The light is effective in separating the pillars, too.

I don't blame you for liking these pillars Helen, I like them too. The vertical patterns are interesting and your composition is just excellent. Really a nice shot!

Wonderful, Helen. The straight lines of the pillars and just the hint of the wreath and bows make this a very interesting image with great patterns.
