This is the AU telecommunications tower in Ginowan City, Okinawa. There's always a disaster story with my pics, it seems. I was desperate for appropriate pictures the nite I had to get the challenge galleries open, so after going to a few parties my husband and I (all dressed up) drove for an hour (literally) trying to find this thing, which we've only ever seen from the expressway. We finally did, and also finally found a place to park with an unobstructed view (meaning no phone lines). Unfortunately, it was a bit windy. I took a series of shots, but in the middle of a timed exposure, the lights just went out, precisely at 11:00 p.m. (very Japanese). I wasn't happy with what I got, so we went again tonight, taking only a half hour of being lost to find it. In the midst of driving around, a tropical downpour started and was still continuing when we arrived at my special vantage point. But miraculously, the wind and rain just stopped all of a sudden, and I managed to get a few shots, one of which I was determined to post here regardless of how it came out! This time we were out of there by 7:00 p.m.

Helen, I really got a great chuckle out of your story... sorry :-) I guess it's because I can relate to your determination. It's just that you went through so much to capture this image and, insisted on the reward of posting it here in the gallery.... and I love your spirit for doing just that!! I think you'd make a great photojournalist Helen, always a great story behind your images. Happy holidays, Mark J
