These are Okinawan shisa, which sit on pretty much every gate post on the island, usually in pairs. The male, with his mouth open, brings in the good fortune, whicle the female, with mouth closed, keeps it safe. These are all males and are sitting in my fireplace. Hopefully they will keep away the kind of problems we had in the last challenge!
