Image Sizing for the Web - 5/5

JPEG quality setting: a figure of 10 (on Photoshop's current scale of 12) will generally give excellent results and, for most images of average
content, 9 will give a result that's almost indistinguishable. With many images you can even get away with 8 without obvious compromise.

The resulting file size will vary widely, depending on the amount of sharp, fine detail present in the image. The file size shown here
is a fair bit larger than generally encountered, only because of the large amount of detail in the foreground flowers and ornaments.
A figure closer to 200 kB is more usual for everyday, run-of-the-mill photo subjects.

Choosing the MINIMUM quality setting for a given image is largely a matter of experience, involving trial-and-error, and enjoys no
useful rule-of-thumb. Occasionally it can become necessary to go higher than discussed here, especially in the case of large slabs
of certain colours which can cause nasty JPEG artefacts. The effects of this cane be seen >> HERE <<.
