A Couple of Trolls *

Norway is the land of trolls, not necessarily the ones that lurk in forums. They can be seen (and purchased) anywhere. This couple is at Trollstiegen, a campground and rest stop on the scenic road between Geiranger and Molde.

Nice shot Terry; I like the way the light reflects off of the Trolls and the way your perfect focus brings out the texture of the wood. *As for critique, the one thing that might make the image even better would be to soften the background just a tad. It's often said that "Anything that does not add to a photo detracts from it". You don't want anything to draw the viewer's attention away from the center of interest. In my opinion (and that's all it really is), the background does not add anything to the image. If you could use your editing software to soften the background just a little, you might be eliminating a possible distraction for some viewers. I've put an animated example in the Demo folder to give you an idea of what it would look like with the background softened a little. Just a possible edit you might want to consider.

Terry, I've always admired how people can carve wonderful "beings" from solid chunks of wood. I like how you've captured the craftsmanship in these trolls...nice color and sense of texture. Are they life-sized? You certainly visit some wonderful places. MFC
