Part of a giant American flag hung inside Pentagon City Fashion Mall and taken just before a security guard warned me I couldn't take pictures in the mall.
The other time I was stopped from taking a photo was 8/26/04; it was when they were redoing the railroad crossing right near where I live. The reason I was given was: "You know...9/11." Someone posted this link of photographer's rights for me: http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm
Thanks, Carmen. In fact, my reaction to the guy was, "Of the American flag???" Surely think that would be a good thing, but my husband said, well, how does he know that's what you were photographing. This whole "don't take pictures" trend really has me irritated. Helen
Glad you got this one. Great title, given the subject and your relating the circumstances of taking it. I don't know what the Pentagon City Fashion Mall is... but I find it disturbing to be asked to stop taking pictures. I guess it'd be funny if it weren't sad. It's happened to me a couple of times; once in a Barnes & Noble, of all places. I was just taking a picture of an event poster - I'd come that night to attend the event.
