2nd: Market Street
(time traveler)
by inframan

Part of a series of random groupings.
I post-processed to eliminate continuous tones & to try to give the image a more surreal silk-screen look.

Response to comments on the crane:
I like the crane. I think it has the look of a predatory mechanical beast. I usually don't believe in "explaining" images; I think explanations stifle imagination. But here's my take on this image: I originally thought of "time" as its main subject because the one thing that stands out is the eternity that exists between the old man & the 2 women. He's obviously never gonna reach them - not in the context of this picture. But I also see the fence as a demarcation between frail/vulnerable/ephemeral humanity in front & steel & stone & machinery (crane) in back.

Too much explanation? Possibly. These are the intuitive engines that drive how I work. I use the same tools as everyone else. Plus my imagination. Basically I guess I'm trying to photograph my dreams...

Awesome. I agree about the crane comment. Can you edit it out? It would be PERFECT then. Kudos. Camera? Exif info? Kudos!

That's just it, Franky...it is too real.

& thanks to you Martin for your generous comments...

Really great what you have made of this scene! IMHO it is a pitty that the crane (or whatever) comes into the picture from the right. Would prefer to have it out, as it makes the picture too real ;-) .

Fantastic! Saw this one in your gallery before and I'm still blown away by the classic feel of this photo! Keep thinking C.Chaplin might trip his way into the scene somewhere! Love the unconventional, outside-the-box composition, it really works well in this image and is appreciated!
