Response to comments on the crane:
I like the crane. I think it has the look of a predatory mechanical beast. I usually don't believe in "explaining" images; I think explanations stifle imagination. But here's my take on this image: I originally thought of "time" as its main subject because the one thing that stands out is the eternity that exists between the old man & the 2 women. He's obviously never gonna reach them - not in the context of this picture. But I also see the fence as a demarcation between frail/vulnerable/ephemeral humanity in front & steel & stone & machinery (crane) in back.
Too much explanation? Possibly. These are the intuitive engines that drive how I work. I use the same tools as everyone else. Plus my imagination. Basically I guess I'm trying to photograph my dreams...
