Icy Falls*
by Denise

Yosemite National Park

A real treat to see Yosemite Falls with this much water in the winter. The ice chunks were huge and when they broke off the thunder reverberated throughout the valley.

Thanks Everyone! I like this one much better too ;-)) I truly cannot see in B & W. I have a hard time appreciating those images!! But it was fun to toss it out there.

Nice shot, Denise. And I definitely like the color version better! Helen

Yeah Denise, after playing with the image a little myself I think I prefer the color version too. I mentioned sepia and Ansel Adams but actually I guess Ansel was pretty much a B&W guy :-) I think that possibly one reason this image doesn't look great in black and white (or sepia) is that it's a little flat. Probably taken on a cloudy day? If it were mine, I might try to improve it in that area but I'd probably end up keeping the color version in any case.

I like the black/white version, but I really like the colored version better - the rocks and waterfall are almost black/white anyway, and I like the little bit of blue sky.

That is a beautiful and majestic sight Denise. I visited Yosemite only once and that was many years ago; I remember that is was truly a beautiful park. This image would probably look nice in sepia too...kind of the Ansel Adams look ;-)

Lovely shot, Denise. At first glance it looks like something other than what it is... like walls opening and water pouring out. I think the torn look at the edges of the ice adds to that illusion. Great shot, though!

Beautiful capture - I love the blurred waterfall and the slight view of the dark blue sky!
