20-OCT-2005 Helen Betts

8th Place [tie]
Along the Bosporus

by Helen Betts

Istanbul, Turkey

Mecidiye Mosque in Ortaköy, built by Sultan Abdül Mecit I in 1855. I am fascinated by Islamic architecture, and there is an abundance of it in Istanbul, but this has always been one of my favorite such buildings anywhere. Taken while on a cruise of the Bosporus, with the Bosporus Bridge in the background.

Beautiful serene scene with warm colors and a very nice building. The point of view put the mosque in evidence. Even the bridge lines force our eyes to go to the mosque.

Gorgeous Helen; I love the lighting on that building! That is really some beautiful architecture. I like those wonderful reflections too; really an exceptional image. Very nicely captured (as usual).
