Thanks for everyone's comments - This picture was taken as a JPEG from a Sony R1 at ISO160 for three minutes - The only PP I did was adjust the highlights some, readjust the white balance, a little tweak to the contrast and sharpening. It was one of those great nights where everything just worked out.

This is a really good shot, Steve! And yet another proof that Copernicus was right ;-)

Nice composition - I love the lighting, color, and star movement!

Steve, I LOVE this!! The colors are stunning. I really like the composition with the other bridge on the right. Wonderful star trails!! Denise

Steve, perfect shot!

What about post-processing? Did you do something with this shot? I'm suprised about the very low noise level, which is a problem for my 717;-(

Great job!

regards

Thanks for the kind comments.... The train tracks are not used anymore, which is a good thing because I was standing out pretty far on the bridge and it was very dark! The Sony's do very well in capturing colors at night. You should see the 1:1 crop there are star streaks everywhere - I must have captured 1 billion or more on this one shot... It's the first time I used the 3 minute exposure on the R1.

Beautiful picture Steve - I think I like this the most of all your submissions. The bridge is very nicely exposed and the reflections in the river are appealing as well. I am glad there is no train at the other end :) ~ gaurav

Beautiful image! I like the perspective and color in particular. Your pictures are all nice and are nostalgic for me as I went to high school in Santa Rosa :-). Helen
