Tea house
by

This picture is by John Dunn - I have been playing with the borders.

I found you could use a number of colors from the scene to produce a very pleasing stroke between the picture and a black border. Also very lightly sharpened.

The original can be found here: http://www.pbase.com/stfchallenge/image/55324212

other sizes: small medium original auto

John - not at all - please use as you see fit - it only complements a beautiful picture, the credit is yours :)! ~ gaurav

I agree that the black frame improves it, because the teahouse is a little too close to the left side of the image. I made a red border because I'm inundated with those three colours here at this time of year, (the lead up to Chinese New Year). The three colours in every decoration are red, black and gold. The image has an abundance of black and gold, so I thought that it needed a little red to make it obviously Chinese. Perhaps I was too obvious. Ha ha. Guarav, if I use your border idea, at least as a starting place, would you like to share credit for the photo?

This is even better. The subtle frame supported the beautiful image very well.

Oh what a difference! This frame is simple, neat, and not distracting at all; excellent job Gaurav! Thanks for the suggestion about my frame as well, I've learned something from this challenge and that's what it's all about.
