John, I don't remember you saying that to me - I wasn't just returning a compliment, I really love this shot!

Katherine, I have a strong feeling that I said the same thing to you, and I've been searching throught the galleries trying to find it, but I can't. Thanks for returning the compliment.

Wonderful photo - I love the bright colors and the clarity! I really hope I can take a shot like this someday.

A very nicely composed and captured image, John. I also like the vague outline of hills in the background, sort of reminiscent of some of the pictures I've seen of the Chinese countryside. Helen

John...you're right...your manual exposure choice has made this a much more interesting and arresting photo. The colors are gorgeous, and the darker background enhance their power. The composition is also just right...with the color building at right adding some balance to the teahouse on the left. The subtle silhouette tree line give the dark background some interest.

hi John - this looks really nice - i use this method (picking a color from the picture for the stroke) quite frequently and am usually pleased with the results. ~ gaurav

John, what a difference! This was a beautiful image to start with, but your new frame has definitely made it even more beautiful. I think you chose just the right color for the frame! It's simply gorgeous!

I wanted to keep the red, for China...but in the end I have to agree with you. The image stands out better with a more subtle frame. Thanks bottles for the suggestion, and Guarav for the frame. I shot this in manual, which is extremely unusual for me but I had the feeling that the camera's metering was giving me too bright an image. I reduced the exposure time from 7 seconds down to one. Liked this one best.

This is a remarkable scene you've captured, John. Love the reflections, the silhoutted hills with trees, and overall feel and balance of the photo. Great job!

John - I agree with Bottles - this is a fantastic image - and you are so kind to post on demand :). I do agree that the border tends to overpower the subtle tones of this picture. I have taken the liberty of suggesting an alternate border in the demo folder (http://www.pbase.com/image/55332935 ). ~gaurav

Oh jrdu, this is a beautiful image. The dark background really brings out the colors in the teahouse and hotel, and the reflections are so pretty! I'm not sure about the red border, to me it's a bit distracting but then again others may love it! Nice shot in any case.
