21-DEC-2005 MFC

7th Place
Suspended Animation
by MFC

Sometimes, things "try" looking up...
when they're forced to look down.

This is one of the tulips in the previous shot...
I thought it was really neat how the upside down petals literally began to move
and curl "up", as if trying to look away from the strong light source beneath them.
A piece of black poster board was placed below and behind the bloom.
A single, halogen desk lamp was used below the bloom for trans-illumination.
A piece of white paper was positioned to reflect
some light back onto the top of the flower too.

Extraordinary texture MFC. Rendering a white with this degree of delicacy is amazing stuff. Fremiet

so simple, yet so beautiful and nice detail too

Beautifully captured, MFC. I particularly like the translucent quality of the petals you've captured with the stamen (or whatever you call them) showing through. Helen

Beautiful image MFC! You always have fine control over your lighting to achieve an excellent tonal range. The flower looks wonderful against the black background.

Very pretty image - I love the lighting, and the white against the black background!
