6th Place
A Sad One
In The Bunch
by MFC

One "looks down" :(
...while the others "look up" :)

This vase of flowers was placed on my kitchen
counter with natural light coming in from a window.
A piece of black poster board was placed behind.

Simply wonderful - great composition, interesting idea and perfect exposure. I love the contrast between vividly coloured tulips and pitch black background. And this fancy frame :-)

Exquisite. The black background in these is so dramatic. The somewhat shallow dof works well, and I really like the framing line. Fremiet

I like it how you managed to fit an emotional strory in to a vase of flowers...
Like Roberta said in the comments of your other flower image (suspended animation), you have the ability to control lighting and tonal range precisely - I couldn't agree more. And I do appreciate it that you often share the little details, like the use of black poster board on the backround.

Beautiful capture, MFC. I like the way the tulips extend beyond the borders, and the very effective drooping blossom. Helen

MFC,
What an elegant composition and a lovely presentation. The vase almost becomes part of the flowers. Very neat, clean and attractive.

Beautiful image - I love the color, lighting! I also love the composition, with the one droopy flower.
