Sonny, you no doubt have plenty of equally fascinating structures in your native flora -- this just looks so unusual because it's normally out of view. Here's the actual size of the entire flower, and the following image shows it in habitat. - Mike

Mike, you sure have weird looking flowers down there. I like the graceful curve of the stamen. I also like the great details and the flower's exquisite colors. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us.
