CindyD got it right! Those circles are bacterial growth(colonies) on Blood Agar Plate. It's a pure culture of gram negative rods, perhaps Klebsiella species (because of it's mucoid appearance). Further biochemical testing needs to be done to identify it. florg

Bacterial culture on blood agar? Doesn't appear to be hemolytic although I'm not positive - the pink hue in the center looks suspicious. Hope you were using good sterile technique!!! CindyD
