Eglise Saint Catherine Fremiet

Honfleur

Eglise Saint Catherine has a roof which looks like an upside-down boat. It was built in the fifteenth century by naval architects (not kidding). The bell tower is located across the street because the roof can't support its weight; in fact in World War II a bomb fell through it leaving a gaping hole in the roof and came to rest in the nave without exploding.
