Yes, Willem, that was your shot that inspired me, thank you! It's real fun learning such stuff by experimenting. And thanks for describing the visual paradox here. Maybe my title contributes to all the confusion too - I could better call it "Disappearing Card" or "Card appearing from Nothing" ;) But that's what really happend here: I just dropped it! ;) bbzippo.

Thanks for your comments. I tried to clean the background a bit. Now some explanation why the image looks like this: The shutter was open for 1/4 sec. For the first 1/8 sec the card was resting in my fingers. For the next 1/8 sec the card was falling down. After that, the shutter closed and the card's trajectory ended.

Hey, bbzippo, got inspired by the guesswork on my bouncing ball ? Great. Thats what it is all about. Someone commented on the blur below the card, but the picture does make sense. You had the card up for a moment, giving the well defined card, and then dropped it, giving the blur. You could have tried the same trick as me, leave the card down on a table, and then pull it up with a string. I think the human eye normally sees the sharp defined form as the end of the movement, so your current pictures suggest a movement upwards, same like my picture suggested a bounce up, where in reality the ball moved the other way. People should try and find out these dynamics, it is good fun and learning, don't you think ? Willem
