Gliding Ant, Cephalotes opacus (Formicidae: Myrmicinae)

Tiputini Forest Reserve, Prov. Orellana, Ecuador

A sculptured gliding ant resting. This species is smaller than the giant gliding ant (C. atratus) and uniformly blue-black in colour.
