Prong-gilled Mayfly (Leptophlebiidae)

Tiputini Forest Reserve, Prov. Orellana, Ecuador

This adult mayfly has lost both of its slender caudal filaments, but is still recognizable by the bulging eyes, wings held above the body, and slender forelegs held forward. Note the transparent, air-filled base of the abdomen.
