This longhorn beetle is a stunning mimic of the bullet ant (Paraponera clavata), which packs an extremely painful sting. The beetle not resembles the golden-haired ant in shape, pattern and size - when agitated, it will also rear up, mandibles opened, just like a bullet ant. The only difference is that it will chirp (stridulate) like a longhorn when picked up.
