With the enormous number of rivers and streams in close proximity to
Seattle, one might think I would have this water photography thing
nailed. Well, I don't. The lighting is always a challenge, and I'm
always torn... long dreamy exposure, or quick stop action exposure?
This is a shot of the Stillaguamish River in Snohomish County (about
an hours drive north of Seattle). There is so much flood damage along
the trails in this area and in others in Western Washington State also.
Due to a trail washout, my trip was cut short. The washout would not have been
easily surmounted while carrying photo equipment and my small dog too.
It appears that access to the backcountry will be challenging this year.
Photographic frustration aside, I spent a lovely and lazy day away from
the office. I just kicked back on a rock bench, listening to the river rush by.
For once, I didn't rush to do anything at all.
