Ghost Storage

Tiny ghosts seem to march across the shelves my dad
built into the kitchen wall. Each of the canned goods
stored there shielded a bit of wall from the scorching
gas and flames as they roared through the room.

These are such sobering images, Suzanne. Destruction of such personal investments of craft into a home would be among those parts most keenly felt.
