A NEW YEAR

First, please note there is no longer a square format requirement. I have
graduated to rectangles now. Its a new year and I am a new gal.

Second, please note the subject of this photo... Ms Karen Leaf.

I was photographing an AKC obedience trial up in connecticut today and
Karen Leaf met me there. It was the first time we'd met in person and I must
say that from my end it was just a huge amount of fun. Karen is great. Fun to
be with and helpful as well. She even lent me her 100mm macro lens because
I needed the speed of that lens for some tedious-indoor-non-flash-action-shots.
She is letting me hang on to the lens for part two of this event tomorrow.

In case you are wondering, she is every bit as much fun in person as she is
here online. Actually, she may be a bit more fun in person.

After the long tedious event we went out to dinner at this "diner."
When I emerged from the ladies room I saw this sight and just could
not believe how photographically perfect it was. I grabbed Karen's camera
(mine was in my car) and took a few shots of her as the only patron in
the place. Isn't this an excellent spot for photography?

Happy New Year one and all.

Thank you Karen.

This is an amazing photo! Everything is terrific, from the light, and the lines and patterns, and all things lead to Karen! Nice eye.

It is neat you two got to meet. I gather from Karen she felt she learned a great deal from you.

This is an eerie shot with KL all alone in that huge room.

Who could ask for more than this "photo op" and time with Karen. Before I started reading your comment my first thought was "That looks just like Karen Leaf". Isn't Pbase wonderful...well, challenging sometime, but wonderful! Alas, I guess Texas is a bit far away for a visit.

You have a great eye - this makes a terrific composition of shape and colour and looks like a fun place as well. Enjoyed your account of meeting with Karen.

I love the long sweep of the seating leading to the warm light on Karen's face. A very nice shot.
