Now this was a fun shot. I wanted a leaf just as it was falling from the tree. To give the feel of motion but freeze the leaf I set the camera and flash to second curtain sync. It worked as I hoped. Motion blur of the fall leaf shows but it is frozen by the flash. There is zip, zero, nada, no photoshop trickery with this photo.

Jim, here is the link I think Harry was talking abouthttp://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=15491565 In the past I have been a pretty regular poster at DPReview in the 20D forum http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1019 This isn't a half bad place to read for info on photography...but it tends to lean to the technical/equipment end of things and sometimes lacks in the artistic end of photography.

We see so many leaves and colorful trees here everyday and they all nice in their own way. But this one point out because there is movement in it. A funny idea and it turned out well!

Great shot Bill, I was trying to get some shot's of falling leaves the other day but had zero success, I guess I'll have to dig out the manual and read up on 2nd curtain sync. never tried it before.
