Wanda01_25_05 in 3D

Wanda in 3D...never done a stereo glamour portrait. So here you go Wanda in natural light 3D.

Here is how:
1. Sit at your normal distance.
2. Slowly cross your eyes. You will see a double image.
3. Continue to cross until the middle two images overlap and turn into one in the middle.
4. Adjust focus on middle image, keeping the two images overlapped

With a little practice it will pop right into focus

other sizes: small medium original auto

Wow. I hadn't seen this one before.
That is pretty awesome 3D stuff. Very nice!

Something funny is going on here. I bet when you took these shots, you asked Wanda to "sit still" while you took one shot and then the other. It worked - almost. She blinked her eyes and she moved her head *just* slightly. So although the right and left shot are perfectly in focus, the 3D image is not :-) The eyes in particular are clearly blurred. It's a bizarre effect, but nothing that really detracts from the overall achievement. She's nice - also in 3D :-)

Actually your eyes do the opposite of crossing. You relax so that your right eye sees the right, the left sees the left. Your brain integrates the images to form a single. The ideal distance is the same as the interpupillary distance you set on a pair of binoculars. These images appear to be identical or switched. The same effect could be accomplished by rotating the model (if that were practical) approximately 7 degrees rotation. Each eye will see a slightly different image.

I remember the day we took this image I really wasn't happy with My hair and once again I was not in the mood. (laffin) I suffered a LOT Of those days as we neared the end of our project. You just don't know how many times I was tempted to quit. . . but, I always have had "stick-to-it-iveness" and so I forced Myself to finish the project. Besides, I couldn't let Bill down, he had worked so hard.

This is the only image I have looked at and thought, "gee, I kind of look like My sister in this one."

My eyes start to water. This can't be good for your eyes.

Guest 26-Jan-2005 19:17
I can't cross my eyes. Dam!
Guest 26-Jan-2005 17:59
the scary thing is I'm really good at doing this now, after the last one you put up!!
Guest 26-Jan-2005 17:48
Wow... these are really good! Is the exposeure the same for both images? One looks a little darker in spots?
Guest 26-Jan-2005 17:26
Excellent effect and image....hey Eric.....I found that you can eliminate steps 2, 3 & 4 if you have two glasses of wine first...CHEERS.
Wm. Bates26-Jan-2005 13:35
Kenny, it is two different photos. You just move the camera about 3 or 4 inches for the second.
Gary Blanchette26-Jan-2005 13:34
Bill you are the coolest! That was awesome! (I had to force myself to uncross my eyes)
Eric Hewis26-Jan-2005 09:52
Two for the price of one, who needs 3D. It never works for me anyway:-(
Kenny Carter26-Jan-2005 07:08
I've always wondered, do you use the same photo twice, or are these two different shots?
jude26-Jan-2005 05:48
Hey.. that's pretty cool! I feel dizzy though, now..
Wm. Bates26-Jan-2005 05:30
John, I haven't made a slide for the tripod yet but one of these days I might get around to it.
Dennis Steinauer26-Jan-2005 05:29
My eyes *always* cross when I see a pic of Wanda. I don't need no stinking 3D. :)
Yann Pindeler26-Jan-2005 05:04
Excellent technique, thanks and... cheers ;-)

Ah Bill, … it’s as if I were in the room with her. Made me almost blush. (Yeah yeah yeah, the big ugly guy blushes.) Just beautiful! Did you make the tri-pod toggle lever yet?
Guest 26-Jan-2005 04:57
I can't help but reach out for her!
snootydog26-Jan-2005 04:25
The three dee works great here. I particularly liked the area around her chin. Well done.
