I caught Wanda at the front door calling a new kitten that has been hanging around for a couple of days. The light was very nice; so, I grabbed the camera and snapped a few shots while Wanda waited for the kitten to show up for dinner.

I am embarrassed to admit that I had no clue what "Grand Tetons" meant when I bought this shirt. (blush) As for the kitten I was calling, "Samantha" is still with us and she has turned out to be the nicest, sweetest kitty I have ever owned. (Don't tell Orrin G. I said that!)To this day, Samantha still makes Me smile.

Yup, that's them, and the French fur traders were right, like Ian said .... the three peaks look like women's breasts, and they called them the Grand Tetons. Actually, my Aussie son is currently living in Jackson Hole, and he climbed the Tetons last weekend. He has an imagination like you, Wanda, Ian, and I have, and he believes he also saw the "nipples" during his climb!!! Even emailed his mother here in Australia this week about his amazing discovery... so much so that she is leaving Australia today to visit him in Jackson Hole, and see it all for herself.
Thank you, Bill and Wanda, for sharing EVERYTHING that you do. Your site is becoming very INTERNATIONAL in viewership. Keep up the GREAT work!!! You are to be congratulated!!!

Wow, Ian, you have amazed with how quickly you tracked down the info!!! A Brit and an Aussie teaching Americans about their American History, which was influenced by the French!!! "Pinnacles" is one explanation. Fur traders also called them "Pilot Knobs", until French fur traders came up with the Grand Tetons. You are absolutely correct that they referred to three Tetons, as they were the three highest peaks. All I can say is that, with Wanda, three are better than two, or one, and infinitely better than none at all!!! Bring on the Tetons!!!

I checked it out as recommended and came across a couple of interesting French sites but also got the meaning of the European name [the previous Indian name meant 'Pinnacles' btw] and I also get your meaning! One thing though, most of the explanations mention three Tetons ...
