It is beginning to feel like summer here. For us that means afternoon hikes in the mountains and canyons to escape the heat. I caught Wanda just starting to cross a stream today and thought it would be a good way to start another month of photos.

I've crossed this stream hundreds of times with the help of My trusty walking stick. I love that stick, it's one of the most precious gifts I have ever received. My son in law Jeff gave it to Me because he knew how much I love to hike. That stick has saved Me from falling many times, especially when My right knee starts to act up. You wont ever see Me in the mountains without My "bear javelin" (grin) This area is one of My favorite places to hike because it is just a 7 minute drive from our home. The trail is rocky and brutal on your feet and ankles. There are tons of real steep places to test your heart. But best of all, because of it's difficult terrain, not many people use this trail so I almost always have it all to Myself! Wanda

I like the compostition. The rocks are a nice leading line.
