Today is the opening of Grouse season in Utah. So we took Timber out for his first official hunt. Wanda snapped a few photos as we headed into the woods. On the downside we didn't find any grouse which seems to be the case when I hunt in the mornings. If Timber is up for it we'll head back into the mountains this afternoon and hope for better luck.
Timber is really doing well. He works at a comfortable range and covers his ground throughly. He comes when called and quarters at command. He needs more work on "whoa". He works at good pace that he can keep up for a long time with out overheating. At this point he needs a lot more exposure to birds.
For those that are in to firearms; the shotgun is an A. H. Fox, A Grade ejector gun, chambered in 20 gauge. It has a single trigger and a beavertail forearm. If I recall correctly the gun was built in 1932 or 33 just after Savage Arms took over Fox.
