M 64

The Blackeye Galaxy

Date: March 9, 2010
Optics: C8 Phoenix (a 1985 Super C8+ remounted on a Nexstar 8 GPS fork) at f6
Camera: Meade DSI II Pro with Astronomik LRGB filters in an Atik manual filter wheel
Exposures: 4 minute exposures, 192:32:32:32 LRGB
Guiding: PHD with a DMK21AU04.AS with a Taurus Tracker III off axis guider/flip mirror
Processing: Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, post-processing in Photoshop CS2.

This image is a salvage job. My flats didn't work, so I had to manually remove many dust donuts. Gradient removal required creating an artificial flat. And this was before I was using PEC, so there was a bit of RA trailing that was removed with an offset filter.

other sizes: small medium original auto
