Now that Pbase is back up I can see this one! I love it. Nice angle. Great light. Almost B&W on it's own. Well done.
shatterbug30-Aug-2005 19:01
Thanks all for your comments. Nope the light is not rendered in Photoshop. I used the on-camera flash, set to its lowest setting and angled the camera so it would go between the two rows of chess pieces, because I did not want to illuminate either the back pieces nor the rest of the board. The added benefit of course was that the angle created a more interesting composition, creating diagonal lines.

E2 - E4.
Hi, Kent,
very nice light captured here. The tilt creates dynamism in still life composition. Good balance of light and negative space, feels like light merges to dark.
Great image!
Guest 30-Aug-2005 15:07
Geeeze, the main image won`t display. The thumbnail looks rather interesting!
J. Scott Coile30-Aug-2005 13:52
Pbase is going through some growing pains again :( Can't see anything but the thumb which is very intriguing. Wish I could see the original size.
Guest 30-Aug-2005 12:05
Shatterbug, the image won't display, but the small thumbnail in the gallery looked great. Based on the other comments, I'm disappointed I can't see it in all its glory.

Ahem! what have we here.. frosted knights! :-)
looks so surreal! I went crazy trying to figure out whether you rendered light on a 3d image or is it for real.. An excellent capture my friend.. a real eye catcher... just love the angle, composition and the splendid lighting
