What a magnificent clash of realities in this one... The man still ploughing the earth in the good old fashioned way with the "help" of the catle, while he is wearing a shirt with the "Repsol" ad, them being such a big oil and whatever company...

What was that passage again? By the sweat of one's brow, yes? Ah, God's hand, indeed. Bravo!!!

Almost the image of slavery.

i rarely vote for pictures but i'm going to vote for this one. the concept, the execution, the processing... everything works so well together to create a timeless, telling image.

such a poignant picture, Kal. the animal with the burden of a human-inflicted harness, the man with the burden of a tiring task in difficult conditions...your ambiguous and probing title is brilliant....is it simply that the animal is the beast of man's burden, or should we remember more often that man is actually more a burden to the beast?

Such a rich image. The turn of the beast's neck defining the edge of the frame, brilliant for me. Draws you to the edge of the image and directs you right back into it.

Not sure if it's your dof or focus, the farmer and his buffalo seemed like miniature to me, being placed in a vast open field beyond our vision and imagination. And I felt the burden of having to harvest everything under the sun. Excellent, Kal.

I totally agree with Roberto. This is a fascinating image, Kal.

Really outstanding! Like a shot from an ancient age. The b&w have a film feeling. Bravo!

The ploughed field accentuate the feeling of burden. A wonderful composition. V.
