Thanks for the insight Phil, the idea that Tricycles are destined for the graveyard in Shanghai was core to the image....and so the link to how they once lived.

Wonderfully expressive, Kal. An overly busy image can make a point when chaos is the subject of that picture. This is a graveyard that shouts, rather than whispers. Cropping would kill it. This image is a festival of infinite layers, one upon another. Each bike carries the memory of those who once rode upon it. In a way, this image is a striking metaphor for what has happened to Shanghai itself, a city once filled with bikes that has become, in many places, a moving parking lot full of cars.

I agree busy may often work, but here I think it is just a tad too busy, maybe it is the crop?? I am not sure, but only my humble opinion.

no more to say. just wonderful......

This picture SHOULD be busy. Graveyards are very busy, aren't they? The structure is okay, it doesn't really distract, because the top and bottom are delimited by wheels. Take them away, and you can't make sense of it. I agree though that it might look better in b&w. Not one of your best images, but still okay I think.

Thanks Jeff I will take a look at your suggestions. I debated posting this image, because it is so busy, but the place was so wierd I had to post it. I came accross it by accident...hundreds of abandoned tricycles, wonderfully lined up and caringly put to rest. A surreal sight. This was more of a documnetary image, and may not even belong here, but I saw the link to the old image of parked tricycles and wanted to express the meaning that all good things come to an end. K

Where tricyles go to die. I love it! I like the near abstract quility to the image, but agree the photo is a bit bussy - hard to know what to focus on. Two suggestions: (1) convert to b&w (which will elminate the distraction of color and help focus on the interesting composition including the repeating pattern elements, and would also set the right "graveyard" mood) and (2) consider croping to zooom in on a particularly interesting section of the photo. For me, that would be lower left quandrant. Just suggestions of course from a fellow amatuer!
