I am speechless....Kal..

In fact, I am afraid to say anything here to disturb this quiet moment, to wake her up from her meditation. She is like an angel, and so peaceful even in the darkness. And when a slice of light falling on her, she seems never noticed. She is all in her world. And that ray of light is all we need to see into her purest soul...So perfect. ! LOVE IT!

A slice of light such as this can gives you everything expressive photography has to offer. It is automatically abstract (less is more). By showing only a slice of someone, you are automatically going to get an incongruous image as well. And finally, if you slice it right, you will slice to an essence, which almost always defines a human value. In this case, it is implies intensity. Another lesson learned here, Kal -- always look for the light. Don't worry about the subject, just look for the light, and good things can happen. As you make it happen here. And as I made it happen here:http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/43986573

Woke up in the morning to the sound of her. The curtain was only part open, and she was only part illuminated. Asked her to stay there (I think she thought she was being told off ;-( ), grabbed my camera, metered for the slice of light, and started to shoot. It soon, became a game. She is an intense child.

Wow. This is so interesting. What a great composition and great exposure. I really like this concept and the expression on the child's face. It's a surreal, alsmot "ghostly" feeling. How did you create this?
