Rainbows in the Rain

Today it rained all day. I didn't have to go outside. So I went out and took a picture of people who did.

There is no desaturation here. This is the colour of Shanghai in the rain...concrete grey. The colour of the raincovers the perfect contrast...and the best middle finger to the weather.

I have been reading the HCB biography recently out. In it, it is emphasised again and again how he sat around and just waited for things to happen to him. He went to the right place and just waited. The surreal came to him, but the decisive moment was his. I stood at the street corner for 45 minutes getting soaked. There were many good pictures, but when these three appeared, I got two pictures, this one, and another where I lost too much of the man in the yellow. It proved to me that if you put yourself in the right place...the surreal and the opportunity will come to you.

What makes this so special is that you were able to find the three primary colors -- red, blue, and yellow -- coming at you side by side. A triple middle finger to the weather!
