Excercise at the Bund, Shanghai 2004

It was the Shanghai Marathon. As with all occasions it was a celebration. I loved their commitment. The red cloths got lost in the Black and White, but colour distracted from the movement.

Beautiful shot - the selective colour is perfect, and I love the woman's smile.

a really clever idea for partial desaturation! while the full colour version is more vibrant, i do like this one too. this one has a sense of unity about it...all the women are united in the celebration by the waving of the same red cloths. the other tones, all in monochrome, also unite them.

This works beautifully, Kal. I have n o problem with the blur -- almost the entire image is moving this time. You are not trying to contrast the moving vs. the still. The red flags make it work. Without them, it is nothing. That is the incongruity here, the blur the abstraction, and such patriotic energy is certainly a human value.
