196th Infantry Brigade - Light

Initially intended for the Dominican Republic,
the 196th was sent to Vietnam in Aug 1966. Originally
serving in III CTZ, it went north in Apr 1967 to become
part of Task Force Oregon, and then was assigned 23rd
Infantry (Americal) Division at the end of that year.
When that division left Vietnam in Nov 1971, the 196th
again became a separate brigade until its own departure
in Jun 1972.
