A Rookery in Full Bloom

Louisiana

The native cypress and tupelo trees compliment each other for nesting areas for the birds. The tupelos provide more shade than the cypresses but the cypresses provide a more cooling atmosphere.

2015--Unfortunately, the Corps of Engineers ran the birds away from this rookery, a place they had been coming for years to court, breed and hatch their young. It has been vacant for 5 years now.
