A Celebration

Our family gathered today at Perilloux Place for a celebration dinner. My special Lake Pontchartrain shrimp and good red wine were among the feastings.
One year ago today on a Sunday we were scattered to all parts of the State as evacuees with Hurricane Katrina bearing down on Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
Though we all suffered flooding and wind damage we celebrated the fact that we are all alive, our houses and gardens are being reconstructed and our children all have their jobs.
We evacuated with our ten pets collectively, and only one, Caitiri, is no longer with us.
We took time to remember all the friends we lost during and in the aftermath of Katrina.

A wonderful celebration. Even in the worse of times we have much to be thankful for. Terrific picture.

I can think of nothing better to celebrate, unless maybe a new administration. It looks like you did the job in fine style.

And we'll drink a glass of wine to you all on this side of the Atlantic too. Your strength and resolve to count your blessings is an example to everyone.

Again your spirit shines through. Thankful in everything, and so many things to be thankful for, even in the worst of times. By the way, my mouth is watering, too and it is early morning!

I bet there is some tasty Louisiana seasoning on that shrimp. It looks delicious.
I think we will be taking the lastest tropical system, Ernesto, off of your hands.
We certainly don't want it, but heaven knows you don't need that kind of weather again this year.

Happy are the days of family celebrations. I have been watching the date roll over toward that year 1.

Glad to hear you're all safe, bar one :(( To an English girl who loves the States, that sure looks appertising.
