The Southern Yatch Club

West End

The clubhouse of the second oldest Yatch Club in the United States burned on this site during the high winds of Katrina. The cause was determined to be a gasline rupture.
For a century weddings, fancy dances, parties, dinners and lunches were held in the clubhouse as well as celebrations following regattas.
Members have erected a temporary structure and have resumed sailing on Lake Pontchartrain.
On this particular evening they were out on the deck enjoying the sunset. There are plans to rebuild.
