The clubhouse of the second oldest Yatch Club in the United States burned on this site during the high winds of Katrina. The cause was determined to be a gasline rupture.
For a century weddings, fancy dances, parties, dinners and lunches were held in the clubhouse as well as celebrations following regattas.
Members have erected a temporary structure and have resumed sailing on Lake Pontchartrain.
On this particular evening they were out on the deck enjoying the sunset. There are plans to rebuild.
