My oldest son drove me out to the Lake to get a picture of the Red Moon rising (tonight's full moon is called Red Moon) but the moon was hidden by clouds. However, in the opposite direction the sun was in its glory.
This moon was also called Grain Moon by the Native Americans.
In this month the moon rises as the sun sets and with the dust in the atmosphere it causes both to be red. Along Bayou Teche in Louisiana it is the custom to celebrate this moon, perhaps because of the rice harvest. I shall have to do some more research on this.
P. S. However, Scott Schexnaydre got a photo of the Red Moon at http://www.pbase.com/sschex/image/64878322.
Coleen Perilloux Landry retains the international copyright not only for the original image but also for any versions of it.
