Lilies in the Rain

New Orleans Museum of Art

My only shot of the day. I do not think this is out of focus; I think it was raining so hard it gives this illusion.
My husband and I were going to the New Orleans Museum of Art to see a special exhibit of Ansel Adams' work. It was drizzling when we left home and since we have been in such a drought I thought it was just a little false alarm. About three miles from home the sky fell in and the closer we got to the Museum the worse it got. Lighting was striking all around us and the rain was so heavy you could barely see the car in front of us.
When we got to the Museum the electricity had gone out in the lightning storm so everyone was out on the porch. I took this shot of the pond in front of the Museum from my car window. The City Park area was flooded but it is a much needed rain.
Will have to see the exhibit another day.

Wonderful capture. Rain is despised by many a photographer but I believe it offers wonderful possibilities. Some of my favorite shots were taken in the rain.

Terrific capture. The foreground flowers, the heavy, large raindrops, and the lily pads in the distance make a wonderfully layered portrait of the experience. Vote.

The drops are terrific. It's nice to see so much rain.

This would be a beautiful shot even without the rain but the captured raindrops are just spectacular. Marvelous shot.

You can see the force of the raindrops hitting the water. Love the pretty tones and the soft focus really works.

I am so happy you got rain. We are still waiting, patiently. You will love the Ansel Adams exhibit. I found it to be an almost spiritual experience.

amazing shot of those heavy raindrops dropping into the pond! by co-incidence we have had a storm here for several hours with rolling thunder and lightning flashes - poor Pooch is hiding under one of the beds as I type.

Nice! The rain IS in focus! That was some storm to be caught out in. Did you see the exhibit?
