This area of the French Quarter received no flooding, but did suffer loss of electrical power. It was several months before Central Grocery reopened. Home of the original muffuletta (a round sandwich on Italian bread with olive salad, salami, cheese, etc.) it is one of the oldest Italian establishments in the Quarter.
