This is not far from the entrance to the Peristyle area off Marconi Drive. It must be an area that is higher and did not sit in flood waters too long because the asphidistra (the green leaves around the base of the oak) is not brown at all. All in all, I believe the live oaks in the Park did quite well, despite getting a severe pruning from the hurricanes. They are already putting out fresh leaves. (The hurricane struck 4 weeks ago today-on Monday, August 29).
The lamp post is intact also. I feel there were many small tornadoes in Hurricane Katrina after viewing the major damage in some parts and the minor damage in other parts.
