This area of the Park seemed to be the lowest area, therefore it sat in water for almost three weeks. Though many, many of the Park's thousand live oaks are still standing and will survive, I am concerned that this ancient one will not.

I remember being facinated by those oak trees. They looked so beautiful and so full of character. So sad to see that some may be lost. There is so much history in this park.

After a devastating ice storm in Rochester, NY in 1991, the local government gave tree removal companies the authority (and money) to cut down whatever they deemed necessary. As a result, many neighborhoods lost perfectly healthy trees cut down for greed. I hope that does not happen in your city.

I know if you raise the soil up to three inches over the roots higher, the tree may die. I hope the water does not do the same.
