Named "Perique" because of the tobacco crop that grows in this area, the house was built in 1835 and was recently lovingly restored by Michael Hopping.
The "old style" cypress picket fence was the rage in the 1700 and 1800's. They were built to keep livestock in and also to keep livestock out. Now, they are worth a fortune and people steal them from abandoned sites. I have always found them very depressing.
