17th September 2003

I made an early start today so the sun is low and the mist has not quite lifted. The River Lea flows down the valley in which we live. The photo was taken from East Hyde Bridge, a perfect place for some to enjoy the birds and other creatures of the river, for others a place to dump their redundant property.

This is beautiful! I wish we had swans around here. We have a few ducks and an annoyingly HUGE population of geece. You couldn't have set this up better if you'd swam out and put each one in their place. Great job!

The stillness and quietness come through this image. I can feel the cool mist and the morning air.

This image has a dreamy quality I just love, Chris. You've captured the lazily meandering essence of this river just perfectly. The swan in the background helps the eye follow the curve of the river, which might otherwise be lost in the shadows of the trees along the riverbank. The early morning glimmer of the sun on the water and the ribbon of hazy mist in the distance adds a beautiful effect. Lovely shot, Chris!
And damn the senseless fool who viewed this beautiful river as nothing more than their personal landfill. >:|
